As expected, PM Najib's propaganda machinery comprising of paid bloggers and a token Professor Madya are spinning that the visit to KL by His Majesty Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud serves as an affirmation that the RM2.6 billion which landed in Najib's personal bank account was indeed a donation by a Saudi Prince.
Every photo opportunity was taken to portray the friendly relationship Najib has with the King. Najib shamelessly jumped at the chance for a rather undignified Royal protocol breaking selfie. Just that one picture, as unbecoming of a head of government to impose on a visiting monarch, showed how far he would go to repair a much-damaged image.
While Najib was very busy exploiting the King's presence for political mileage and to deceive the people; the question that lingers in the Rakyat's mind is why the Saudi King has not mentioned anything at all about it. What is considered the most scandalous case of corruption and money laundering in the history of the modern world to which Najib's own admission has directly implicated the Saudi Royal House has shockingly escaped mere comment by His Majesty.
It is impossible that the King is unaware of these extraordinary circumstances and serious criminal allegations. Surely His Majesty understands the implications of this visit to which Najib is desperate to portray as a vindication. To be clear Najib is deemed nothing more than a kleptocrat by the Saudi’s great ally the United States. Thus, devoid of explanation by His Majesty it is only fair that Malaysians assume the obscene sums of money given to Najib was an attempt to interfere in our nation’s affairs. Mind you we have always respected Saudi’s sovereignty despite it all.
The absence of any explanation on this matter by the King begs the question did Najib make the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia an offer they couldn't refuse? Has it anything to do with Saudi Arabia's military action in Yemen? What is the extent of Malaysia's involvement in the Saudi-led war on Yemen? What implications will this have to the safety of our troops in that theatre of war and the blowback to the security of our people back home?
Therefore, should we accept that the monies did not come from 1MDB by virtue of King Salman's continued silence regarding the ridiculous billion ringgit so-called "donation" to Najib? If so all the above questions remain valid.
Hopefully the innocent citizens of Malaysia will eventually get the justice they yearn for - if not by a clarification from the Saudi King, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques then by the court of law in at least five jurisdictions for starters.
Far from any form of exoneration, Najib has dug himself into a deeper hole this time by dragging in the King of Saudi Arabia into this quagmire.
